            Fitness Staff

             

            We believe our staff is our greatest asset. Without them, BAC wouldn’t be the place it is today. They deliver the care, professionalism and comfortable environment we’ve become known for. What’s different about BAC? It’s the way we make you feel, just come and see.

            Marie Figgins – marie@bainbridgeac.com

            Group Fitness Coordinator, ACE-CPT – Premier

            Marie began teaching group exercise classes at the YMCA in West Seattle in 2010. After realizing how much she enjoyed being involved in the fitness industry, she continued on to get her personal training certification in 2012. Marie aims to reach people of all ages and levels of fitness. Her goal is to help her clients make fitness and good health a way of life, and to have fun while doing so. Marie implements that same motto into her own life, and spends time weight lifting, dancing and running. “I am a believer that we train for life, to make us strong in our everyday activities – mentally, physically and spiritually. With support, consistency and a little motivation anyone can reach their fitness goals!”

             

             

            Ben Kussie – ben@bainbridgeac.com

            NSCA-CSCS – Premier

            Ben’s passion for helping people reach their fitness goals and improve their overall health stems from his athletic background and interest in sports medicine. He played college baseball and graduated with a degree in kinesiology, and plans to continue his education pursing a doctorate in Physical Therapy. Whether you are looking to start your first fitness program or you’re an accomplished athlete, Ben will create an individualized, effective strength and conditioning program to help improve your performance, reduce injuries and teach lifelong fitness and movement skills to support a healthy and active lifestyle. His education and experience in sport specific training make him an ideal trainer for athletes. Ben also works as a Physical Therapy Technician at Kitsap Physical Therapy supporting physical therapists by preparing patients for rehabilitation activities, assisting with exercises and recording their progress.

             

            Dana Maria – dana@bainbridgeac.com

            NASM-CPT – Premier

            Dana is a long-time Bainbridge Island Resident. She has always been physically active, and took up long distance running in college to alleviate stress. She became very interested in nutrition and health, and eventually became a certified trainer with NASM in 2010. Shortly afterwards she got her Health Coach Certification through Institute of Integrative Nutrition. Last year she was certified in functional nutrition through NASM. She also co-directed “Go Run”, a running and wellness program for middle school aged girls for the past few years. Dana enjoys yoga, running and spending time with her three kids and new grandson. She also loves to travel and solo walked 500 miles across Spain on the Camino de Santiago in September and October of 2018. Dana loves empowering people and helping them to discover that they hold the key to their own well-being. We are thrilled to have her as the latest addition to our training staff.

             

            Maggie Miller – maggie@bainbridgeac.com

            PT, CSCS – Master

            Maggie has over 20 years experience in orthopedic and sports physical therapy. She earned her Strength and Conditioning Specialist Certification in 2003, a credential which recognizes knowledge and skill in the training of athletes.She has expertise in the prevention of knee injuries in the female athlete and has been a featured speaker at the Washington State Strength and Conditioning Association’s Clinic several times. Maggie’s specialties include core training, injury recovery and prevention, sports specific training, and sports performance enhancement. Maggie offers fee-based group training classes throughout the year which focus on these topics. The class content is based on current research so participants learn not only what to do, but why specific exercises are important.

             

             

            Danny Nuttman – danny@bainbridgeac.com

            BS Exercise Science, NSCA-CPT, USAW-L1SP – Expert

            Danny is a graduate of Eastern Washington University with a B.S. in Exercise Science. His background and expertise are in strength training, weight loss and functional/bodyweight training. With his experience in weight management and strength training, he is able to work with a variety of clients of different age and fitness levels. He has a great passion for fitness that comes from being an overweight teen that lost and kept off the weight. Danny’s goals are to motivate, educate and make fitness a fun and happy experience for all.

             

             

            Katherine Van Slyke – katherine@bainbridgeac.com

            ACE-CPT, ACC-ICF – Premier

            Katherine treats each client differently, recognizing that every individual is unique in what motivates them and what keeps them on track. Growing up as an athlete, she played lacrosse through college and she continues to be an avid tennis player. After having children and approaching mid-life, Katherine struggled with weight and depression. However, she has also experienced the turn-around that diet, exercise and mindfulness can make in having a positive life experience.

            In addition to being one of our trainers, she is also a certified life and health coach. Her approach is to really listen to the individual and partner with them to break down barriers and walls while motivating clients to make changes in a slow and steady manner; learning how to maintain the positive changes.
